Parenting time difficulties at Halloween, revisited

A few weeks ago, we posted on some of the difficulties that divorced and separated parents may encounter when Halloween comes around. Essentially, disputes may arise when both parents want to take the child trick-or-treating in their respective neighborhood. With Halloween coming this Friday, we thought it prudent to reiterate the messages that can help in resolving disputes.

It is common for non-custodial parents, particularly fathers, to seek child support modifications. This is especially true when the parent paying support has a sudden reduction in income caused by a job loss or layoff. However, some fathers may petition the court for a reduction because the receiving parent has obtained a new job that pays more money than before. Considering that many men may see child support as an improper form of spousal maintenance.

How social media can ruin you during divorce

It is amazing how social media has changed the way people communicate and share information about themselves. Five years ago, a Facebook presence was only relegated to college students and teenagers. Now, Fortune 500 corporations, start-up companies and octogenarians have Facebook pages. The same could be said about Twitter and Instagram to a certain extent.  While this explosion in social media makes for interesting discussions, it could be also lead to serious problems for people going through child custody disputes.

Why planning for Christmas right now is okay

If you watch the Hallmark Channel and are annoyed with the constant “Countdown to the Holidays” icon seen during your favorite shows, it should be a signal to you if you are embroiled in a custody or parenting time dispute. Time to plan for the holiday season.
